Some premieres do not need billions to be remembered. The Do228 NXT by General Atomics AeroTec Systems was on a roll in spring 2026: first flight of the demonstrator on 2 May, roll-out of the first production aircraft with the registration D-CNXT in front of around 500 guests in Oberpfaffenhofen on 8 June, and a few days later the official aircraft christening with a water salute at ILA Berlin.
Presented to an international audience for the first time, the evolution of the Dornier classic quickly became a highlight in the static display, drawing crowds on public days. Drinks served right under its wing made the rugged twin-prop the most approachable star of the show.
