PULSE P19: the MALE class, reinvented
The most striking premiere of ILA 2026 comes from Munich: Quantum Systems presents its first optionally piloted multi-role aircraft, unveiled by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Fully developed and built in Germany, the PULSE P19 combines long endurance with significantly higher speed and integrated counter-drone capabilities.
When the Federal Chancellor unveils an aircraft in person, it sends a strong signal. At ILA Berlin 2026, Friedrich Merz revealed the Quantum Systems PULSE P19: the Munich manufacturer's first optionally piloted multi-role aircraft, engineered to redefine the MALE class.
The P19 is fully developed and manufactured in Germany. It combines long endurance of up to around eleven hours with significantly higher speed than classic reconnaissance drones, a lower cost profile and integrated counter-UAS capabilities: the platform can carry up to twelve interceptor drones. It is embedded in the MOSAIC UXS software ecosystem, enabling manned-unmanned teaming and recce-strike missions.
From start-up to systems house
For Quantum Systems, the P19 marks the entry into optionally piloted platforms and with it the step from drone start-up to systems provider. That the unveiling took place at ILA fits the show's profile: at the same event, Quantum agreed with Airbus Helicopters to integrate its interceptor drones into military helicopters, starting with the H145M.
The message of the premiere goes beyond the product: sovereign defence technology from Germany has its stage at ILA, unveiled by the Chancellor and examined by a trade audience from all over the world.
